Junior Trader – Grain Trading
neXgro is seeking to appoint a Junior Trader to provide administrative, analytical, and operational
support within a dynamic grain trading environment. neXgro is a leading AgTech group delivering
innovative, technology-enabled solutions across the agricultural value chain, with a strong focus on
transparency and traceability.
The Group’s head office is based in Krugersdorp; however, the successful candidate will be based in
Potchefstroom. neXgro operates nationally through regional representatives and offers a
comprehensive range of grain trading and agricultural technology solutions to producers, traders, and
food processors across South Africa.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
The Junior Trader will support the trading team in the execution, monitoring, and administration of
grain trading activities, while gaining exposure to market dynamics, risk management, and trading
processes within a structured and controlled environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the administration and pre-screening of SAFEX-related contracts and trading
documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance. - Support the balancing and reconciliation of daily trading transactions and positions.
- Assist in monitoring and managing risk exposure throughout the trading lifecycle in line with
internal policies and risk management frameworks. - Participate in routine commodity and market-related meetings.
- Conduct basic market and trading analysis under guidance, including monitoring price
movements and relevant market indicators. - Handle operational and general trading-related queries in a professional and timely manner.
- Provide ad hoc administrative and operational support to the trading team as required.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with reporting to support effective decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory requirements, and confidentiality standards at all times.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Matric (Grade 12) – essential.
- Completed BCom in Agricultural Economics, Risk Management, or an equivalent qualification.
- 0–2 years’ relevant experience (graduate applications are welcome).
- Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
SAFEX AMD Examination will be an advantage but is not a mandatory requirement.
