neXgro is currently seeking to appoint a full-time Physical Trading and Research Analyst to join our grain and oilseed trading business. This exciting opportunity offers exposure to physical commodity trading, market research and analysis, futures markets and hedging, and risk management within South Africa’s dynamic agricultural sector.
neXgro SA is a transparent track and trace data Agtech company. The head office is in Krugersdorp, with satellite offices in Potchefstroom and Caledon. The group has a national footprint and provides a wide spectrum of grain-related services to producers and food processors.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist with buying, selling and executing physical trades with assistance of the senior trader.
- Developing relationships with potential buyers in the grains and oilseeds market.
- Monitor grain and oilseed markets, prices and propose trading opportunities.
- Track contracts, volumes, pricing and deliveries.
- Develop an understanding of supply, demand, weather and other market drivers.
- Providing analysis and research.
- Monitor relevant futures markets.
- Assist with hedging physical positions.
- Develop an understanding of futures, basis and price risk.
- Monitor positions, exposure and trading results.
- Assist with trading decisions.
- Identify discrepancies or risks and raise them promptly.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Matric (Grade 12) essential.
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Finance or related field is advantageous.
- 0 – 2 years of experience in grain or commodity markets.
- Computer literate with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Comfortable working with numbers and data.
- Commercially minded and results driven.
